Okay here's the plan!

A few weeks ago in our critical studies lecture we looked at game development pipelines, and in our seminar we focused on the different types of jobs in the industry. This has made me think about what kind of job roles i want to do in the future.
I've always been more interested in character art, and so my perfect job would be a character artist, after this seminar it has become very clear to me that i need to figure out what a job in character art would require. This way i can start making my self small goals to work towards, in order to be up to the standard that the industry would require.
It was difficult to find a character artist job, i looked into some of the bigger companies such as ninja theory and rocksteady who i'd love to work for, but I'm pretty sure there character artist jobs would have been filled if there were any available. I also looked at naughty dog, which would be my absolute dream job but the hiring section of the page was pretty empty at the moment and they're across the pond in america.
But one i did find was for the awesome indie company "Hello Games" who recently announced there new IP "No Man's Sky", they have a really dedicated art team, and i would love to work for them. Hello Games is also local company also, Uk Based (Guildford).
Lets look at what they are asking for, and what goals i can set myself to achieve there industry standard.
Firstly because it's an indie company so you can probably expect to do probably more than the job description because there will be limited people at the company and will probably share responsibilities.
They say "We want to make a dent in the universe" which suggests a very motivated team who are aiming for greatness. They ask for a portfolio, but talk about how it might be done in your spare time, so its suggest a relaxed atmosphere. They want you to be able to create Concept to modelling which is what we're doing on the course so i believe i am building skills that can be used in industry.
