It’s the start of week 3. I’m still trying to keep up with these blog post, I’m not very good at just talking about myself, but I hope It’ll get easier the more I do it. Here’s a wrap up of what I’ve done so far on the course. In the first week we did a Asset swap project where everyone is in charge of concepting, modelling, unwrapping, texturing and putting into engine an asset of a Viking dining area. Throughout the project we must swap which asset we are working on so that everyone has had a part of working on every item. Heres what i made...

I think this project turned out well, I was personally feeling rusty with 3D as I hadn’t used it in a while, due to the summer break, so this project was really good at throwing me back in. I need to practice my UV packing, this was something that I didn’t do as well as I could of which held up the team because I had to go back and redo it before my team mate could texture.

One way in which my work could be improved is through more team feedback, our team didn’t communicate as well as we should have so my work didn’t get to go through multiple reviews. Another way my work could be improved is with the addition of light maps in engine, we ran out of time before we could add the maps. My work could be improved through iterations, it would have been beneficial, to create many concepts, multiple models of the pig etc.

In week two, we were put into new groups and a new project, to recreate a scene from a film. My group went for the film ‘Her’ by spike Jonze, because of the beautiful colours in the shots. In the first week of the project we had to choose the scene and then pitch it to our lecturers. They didn’t feel our original scene was the strongest and another shot stood out more so we went for that.  We first created an asset list of everything in the scene, then we gave out the different jobs for people, I am in charge of the reception desk and the photocopier. This is what we have so far.

We our now starting week 3 and we plan to have it unwrapped and textured by Thursday.
