so here we go again... third and final year, i swear i had just started uni a few days ago and now i'm nearly finished.  This is very scary but i will be prepared by the end of this year for getting a job and beginning real life. We started this week with a new brief, we have a new system that i am very excited about, we have been given a selection of briefs that we can choose from each takes three weeks to complete and we have to do three of them, which should bring us up to Christmas. The briefs now allow us to specialise our portfolio for our specific jobs. I have decided that i want to become a character artist for a while now so this is the best case scenario for achieving that goal. I have decided for my first project to do the partly stylised character as it will be a good warm up for later projects as well as hopefully give me something that is portfolio ready.

A quick summation of the brief is to create a aviator for a mobile game using a concept provided, we need to correct the anatomy, and roughly follow the design, though i feel its heavily implied that we can just use it as a jumping off point for a us to go with and come up with something cool and different at the end.
Original concept (not created by me)
I did some redesigns in my sketchbook, i'm trying to work more quickly instead of just working in Photoshop, these are concepts they don't need to be perfect finished illustrations.

I began this week by starting in zbrush and just create a correct anatomy female base model.

Then i threw some clothes on her in marvelous designer and then tided it up in zbrush again and then went on to implement more of my design in the sculpt.

Next week i will retopo and texture it. I also feel this year is going to be a lot better for feedback, it was a lot harder to get information on what i could improve on last year but this new system puts us in groups so we can get feedback from nearly all the tutors. I recevie some really intresting advice on reference from my new tutor casto vocal, he got me to look at films such as suckerpunch for steampunk ideas and metropolis for bio mechanical characters. I have tried to implement this advice by creating mood bards with these references.

I am excited about this new year and look forward to creating some awesome work!
